marblemedia series Holy Baloney greenlit by CBC Kids

TORONTO, ON – March 27, 2018 – Leading television producer marblemedia is pleased to announce that Holy Baloney, a play-along 10 episode, three-minute series for kids, has been greenlit by CBC Kids for a spring 2018 launch at CBC Kids and on the CBC TV App.

Produced by Matt Hornburg and Mark Bishop of marblemedia, along with Jesse Shamata, creator of the hit series Gaming Show (In My Parents Garage), Holy Baloney challenges viewers to guess the answers to everyday questions. Can you pick out fact from fiction? Truth from complete baloney? This Spring, you’ll be able to find out!

Each episode features three kids who take time out of their lunch hour to answer a poignant question about everyday things – each giving a different, hilarious response! The range of questions could include where something in the world comes from, why something is the way it is, or why people do the things they do.

The questions – and sometimes the answers – will be tricky for both kids and parents. It’s up to the viewers to watch the convincing answers of all three schoolyard experts and decide which answer is right, and which two are complete baloney. This kid friendly series is a mix of live-action and mixed media, as the imaginative answers are visually played out throughout each episode.

“marblemedia is always looking for fun, engaging and informative projects that appeal to a broad audience,” said Matt Hornburg, Co-CEO, marblemedia. “In Holy Baloney, we ask the big everyday questions – Why is the sky blue? Why do we shake hands? The type of questions we all asked as kids and sometimes don’t remember as adults, or would be surprised by the real answer. The series offers a fun way for inquisitive people of all ages to learn the answers to life’s toughest questions together.”

International rights for the series are held by marblemedia’s Distribution 360.

marblemedia and Jam Pie Media Are Making Something Mighty with TVO and Knowledge

New kids live-action series, Super Mighty Makers helps kids make the world brighter through cool crafts and kindness

TORONTO, ON, October 9, 2017 – There is no kindness too small!  No idea too tricky!  No craft too sticky!  marblemedia along with JamPie Media, TVO and Knowledge Network are pleased to announce the production greenlight of scripted kids live-action series Super Mighty Makers, a  26 x 11 / 13 x 22 min series where inspiring kids engage in acts of kindness, by crafting things with the help of a team of Super Mighty Makers heeding the call of kindness and D.I.Y. duty.

The first series created by Jamie Piekarz from her new company Jam Pie Media, Super Mighty Makers will be produced by marblemedia in association with Jam Pie Media, TVO and Knowledge Network.

“Kids can change the world! They are brimming with creativity, curiosity and kindness, and we look forward to celebrating a new generation of D.I.Y. superheroes with this new series,” says Mark Bishop, Co-CEO of marblemedia.

“The idea for Super Mighty Makers came from paying attention to kids as they make crafts,” adds Jamie Piekarz, of Jam Pie Media. “Whether at home, in school or at summer camps, children are always talking about how to make their creations special for the person they want to give them to. Crafting has kindness built into its very DNA so creating a show that combined kindness missions with D.I.Y. was natural.”

“Children can truly make a difference through a simple act of kindness. Super Mighty Makers gives kids a chance to see how they can take action and make a difference by combining crafts and acts of kindness,” says Marney Malabar, TVO’s Director of Kids TV. “It’s another way that TVOkids gets children ready for school, life, and to take on the world.”

Super Mighty Makers

The Super Mighty Makers are a team of kid superheroes with special D.I.Y. powers that help friends spread kindness with perfect one-of-a-kind crafts in fun new maker missions in each episode. From making a new student in school feel welcome, to cheering up a friend with a broken leg or creating a care package for an elderly neighbour, kids are inspired to save the day with cool crafts, creativity and kindness.

The series, developed with TVO and additionally financed by the Canada Media Fund, will start production this fall and launch in Fall 2018. The series is complimented by a strong digital media component, produced by marblemedia Interactive, which communicates core fundamental skills and tips to young crafters in quick, informative videos, available through an enhanced interactive media player. Aspiring makers will be able to follow along and make their own crafts they see in the show, like a ‘Super Denim Doer’ or the ‘Super Stone Soother’.

Distribution360, a marblemedia company, will hold distribution and licensing rights for the series, including both tape and format sales.

“Strong, collaborative partnerships with producers are part of our DNA at D360,” says Diane Rankin, SVP, International. “We were immediately excited by the Partners in Motion development slate and look forward to working with them to bring their new productions to market, alongside their strong catalogue of factual series like Crime Stories and Edge of War.”

Earlier this year, Partners in Motion principal Ron Goetz took sole leadership at the company’s helm with new direction and priorities including a focus on new and original titles.

“Development is a real priority for us going forward, as it is for D360 who thinks similarly,” says Ron Goetz, principal of Partners in Motion.  “Their creative and financial involvement at an early stage really does make it easier for us as producers to get on with the business of making great shows.”
