marblemedia and Jam Pie Media Are Making Something Mighty with TVO and Knowledge

New kids live-action series, Super Mighty Makers helps kids make the world brighter through cool crafts and kindness

TORONTO, ON, October 9, 2017 - There is no kindness too small!  No idea too tricky!  No craft too sticky!  marblemedia along with JamPie Media, TVO and Knowledge Network are pleased to announce the production greenlight of scripted kids live-action series Super Mighty Makers, a  26 x 11 / 13 x 22 min series where inspiring kids engage in acts of kindness, by crafting things with the help of a team of Super Mighty Makers heeding the call of kindness and D.I.Y. duty.

The first series created by Jamie Piekarz from her new company Jam Pie Media, Super Mighty Makers will be produced by marblemedia in association with Jam Pie Media, TVO and Knowledge Network.

“Kids can change the world! They are brimming with creativity, curiosity and kindness, and we look forward to celebrating a new generation of D.I.Y. superheroes with this new series,” says Mark Bishop, Co-CEO of marblemedia.

"The idea for Super Mighty Makers came from paying attention to kids as they make crafts,” adds Jamie Piekarz, of Jam Pie Media. “Whether at home, in school or at summer camps, children are always talking about how to make their creations special for the person they want to give them to. Crafting has kindness built into its very DNA so creating a show that combined kindness missions with D.I.Y. was natural."

"Children can truly make a difference through a simple act of kindness. Super Mighty Makers gives kids a chance to see how they can take action and make a difference by combining crafts and acts of kindness," says Marney Malabar, TVO’s Director of Kids TV. “It’s another way that TVOkids gets children ready for school, life, and to take on the world.”

Super Mighty Makers

The Super Mighty Makers are a team of kid superheroes with special D.I.Y. powers that help friends spread kindness with perfect one-of-a-kind crafts in fun new maker missions in each episode. From making a new student in school feel welcome, to cheering up a friend with a broken leg or creating a care package for an elderly neighbour, kids are inspired to save the day with cool crafts, creativity and kindness.

The series, developed with TVO and additionally financed by the Canada Media Fund, will start production this fall and launch in Fall 2018. The series is complimented by a strong digital media component, produced by marblemedia Interactive, which communicates core fundamental skills and tips to young crafters in quick, informative videos, available through an enhanced interactive media player. Aspiring makers will be able to follow along and make their own crafts they see in the show, like a ‘Super Denim Doer’ or the ‘Super Stone Soother’.

Distribution360, a marblemedia company, will hold distribution and licensing rights for the series, including both tape and format sales.
