TORONTO, CANADA (July 28, 2016) -  marblemedia is pleased to announce that it has once again teamed up with TVOCity Saskatchewan, Knowledge Network and The Jim Henson Company on a new preschool live-action series, Opie’s Home. Currently in production in Hamilton, Ontario, the series will premiere in 2017. 

Opie's Home (39 x 7min) follows 4-year-old Opie as he plays, explores and discovers new things in and around his home. Viewers meet Opie’s parents, grandmother, and neighbourhood friends, including next door neighbour Mr. Kabashio, played by the much loved and Oscar-nominated Canadian actor Graham Greene (Dances with WolvesDie Hard with a Vengeance).  

Opie's Home is a spin-off of the award-winning series Hi Opie! (created by Barbara Slade, developed in partnership with TVOKids and produced in association with The Jim Henson Company), which features Opie, the fun-loving kindergartner voiced and operated by award-winning puppeteer Jordan Lockhart, as he ventures to kindergarten for the first time. In Opie's Home, Opie brings home what he has learned in school and applies it in his life.

Opie's Home features the beautiful Henson-style puppetry that families know and love, along with great stories rooted in what it’s really like to be four (and three-quarters to be exact). Opie was designed and built by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop™.  The series will be complemented by an interactive web experience and mobile app, in development with marblemedia’s interactive team, which will be available  in Canada on tvokids.com.

Bell Media Announces Sarah Timmins to Receive Bell Media Executive Producer Accelerator Lab Apprenticeship

TORONTO, July 5, 2016 /CNW/ - Bell Media announced today the selection of Sarah Timmins as the recipient of the third annual Bell Media Executibe Producer Accelerator LabProduction Apprenticeship. Having already completed the six-week Broadcaster Internship at Bell Media earlier this year, Sarah now embarks on her one-year apprenticeship with marblemedia.

Spanning the life of one program cycle, the apprenticeship will provide Sarah with the opportunity to gain further experience in a senior producing role and its associated responsibilities, and obtain insight into managing a large scripted series alongside the senior management team at marblemedia. marblemedia is an award-winning content creation company whose credits include HI OPIE, OPEN HEART, SPLATALOT, and their first primetime series ALCHEMY, currently in development, created by Karen Walton.

With five participating producers from across Canada, the third annual Bell Media Executive Producer Accelerator Lab program began in January with the Broadcaster Internship, a six-week, group placement in which entrants studied a broad curriculum designed to give a wealth of experience in the media landscape. Producers met with senior Bell Media representatives from various departments to gain exposure to the internal operations of a Canadian broadcaster. Participants also learned about complex business and economic factors in Canadian television production and their relationship with broadcasting through seminars, panel discussions with industry experts, exploration of case studies, and coaching sessions.

MARBLEMEDIA and OMNIFILM ENTERTAINMENT partner to remake 90’s favourite THE ODYSSEY

TORONTO, CANADA (June 13, 2016) – International award-winning producer marblemedia  and long-established television powerhouse Omnifilm Entertainment today announced they are joining forces to develop their newest scripted series, The Odyssey.

The Odyssey — a fun and suspenseful adventure with a tone reminiscent of the classic adventure comedy The Goonies — will be adapted by the award-winning showrunners Simon Racioppa andRichard Elliott (Fangbone, My Babysitter’s a Vampire), who are also currently creating and writing an original one-hour pilot for Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment (The Walking Dead).

The Odyssey is an adventure comedy series about a group of kids who wake up to find themselves in a mysterious forest called Downworld — without knowing why they are there or how to get home. With no adults to guide them, the kids quickly learn how to take care of themselves as well as each other and to enjoy this curious and exciting world while they continue to search for a way home.

With an ensemble cast, featuring characters from around the world, some kids will find their way home while new kids will arrive in Downworld — creating an evolving cast of characters. Downworld is a wondrous place with traffic lights in a forest, an awesome hideout, a swimming pond and a monster, Mr. Mask, whose powers are derived from the kids’ own fears.

TORONTO, CANADA (June 8, 2016) – International award-winning producer marblemedia today announced the appointment of Carrie Paupst Shaughnessy in a newly created role as Vice President of Scripted effective immediately.

Carrie will be working closely with the marblemedia team and specifically Co-CEO and Executive Producer Matt Hornburg. Carrie will be responsible for nurturing the company’s Scripted development slate in Primetime, Live-Action Youth and Digital — working with showrunners, writers, agents and producing partners.
